Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of gratitude for the nation’s hard-won freedom. The celebration was honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Viku L. Achumi, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Guwahati, Assam. His presence and inspiring address added special significance to the occasion. He reminded the gathering of the courage, sacrifice and determination of those who contributed to India’s freedom and encouraged the younger generation to become responsible citizens committed to the progress of the nation.
The programme also brought together members of the Don Bosco Institute family, including Fr. VM Thomas, Founder Director; Fr. Cletus Sebastian, Executive Director; Fr. John Rabha, Associate Director; Sr. Athisa, Head of the Youth Department; and Fr. Joey. Their presence added warmth and meaning to the celebration.
The programme featured the unfurling of the National Flag, patriotic expressions and a gathering of students, staff and members of the Institute community. The vibrant display of the tricolour and the enthusiastic participation of the young people reflected the spirit of unity and patriotism that marked the occasion. The celebration was also a moment of remembrance and gratitude for the countless heroes whose courage and sacrifice secured the freedom India enjoys today. Their legacy served as a reminder that freedom carries with it the responsibility to work for peace, justice, inclusion and the development of society.
