In a proud and momentous achievement for Don Bosco College, Tura, Ms. Nandini Ishvi O. Sangma has been selected to represent India at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP13), which will be held in Sydney, Australia, from July 26 to July 31, 2026.
Nandini Sangma will represent the nation alongside five other young delegates from different parts of India at the prestigious international programme that brings together youth aged 18 to 29 from Commonwealth countries for a week-long parliamentary simulation and leadership training exercise.
A student of the Department of Political Science at Don Bosco College, Tura, Nandini earned this remarkable recognition after being adjudged the “Best Speaker” during the first-ever Youth Parliament held in Garo Hills. The Youth Parliament programme was sponsored and organised by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in collaboration with Tura Christian College and took place at the District Auditorium, Tura, on March 2–3, 2026.
The Commonwealth Youth Parliament is aimed at providing training, exposure, and leadership opportunities to young people aspiring to public office and leadership roles. The programme focuses on parliamentary procedures, governance, legislative debates, and democratic practices through simulated parliamentary sessions, committee discussions, and interactive engagements.
The achievement has brought immense pride to Don Bosco College, Tura, and the entire region of Garo Hills. Faculty members, students, and well-wishers have congratulated Nandini for her outstanding accomplishment and wished her success as she prepares to represent India on the international stage.
