Dn. Sanjosh Sangma, SDB, was ordained to the Sacred Order of Priesthood on Saturday, 17 January 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The Priestly Ordination was held at the Don Bosco Shrine, Gojapara, Assam, and was conferred by His Lordship Most Rev. John Moolachira, D.D., Archbishop of Guwahati.

The Eucharistic celebration was marked by deep prayer and thanksgiving and was attended by a large gathering of priests, religious, Salesian confreres, family members, friends, and faithful from various parishes and institutions.

In his homily, Archbishop John Moolachira highlighted the sacred nature of the priestly vocation, reminding the faithful that priests are called to serve God’s people with humility and dedication. He noted that priests face trials and temptations in their ministry and therefore need the constant prayers of the faithful. Emphasizing the dignity of the priesthood, the Archbishop stated that priests are authorized to celebrate the sacraments and are called to be “living scriptures,” witnessing to the Gospel through their lives and thereby leading many souls to salvation.

Addressing the newly ordained priest, the Archbishop exhorted him not to seek comfort in life but to remain available at all times for the service of God’s people, especially in the administration of the sacraments. He encouraged him to consider each celebration of the Holy Mass as his “first and last,” urging him to listen attentively to the cries of the people entrusted to his care and to remain faithful to Gospel values in his priestly ministry.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, formally presented Deacon Sanjosh Sangma to the Archbishop for the rite of ordination.

Following the ordination, a short felicitation programme was held, during which congratulations and good wishes were extended to the newly ordained priest as he begins his pastoral ministry in the Church.
