The Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Kharghuli, came alive with deep spiritual fervour and vibrant youth participation as it hosted the Holy Week Youth Pasch from April 1 to 5, 2026. The five-day programme brought together young people for a profound journey of faith, reflection, and celebration of the Paschal Mystery.
The programme commenced on April 1 with the arrival and registration of participants, followed by an engaging ice-breaking session led by Mr. Sunil and the hostel team. The orientation was conducted by Rev. Fr. Cletus Sebastian SDB, Director of DBI and NERYC, setting the tone for the days ahead.
Holy Thursday was marked by prayer, praise, and enriching sessions led by Fr. John Barman MSFS, Associate Executive Secretary of the CCBI Youth Commission. A highlight of the day was the solemn re-enactment of the Last Supper at Rhino Square, presided over by Most Rev. John Moolachira DD, Archbishop of Guwahati. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Hour created a deeply prayerful atmosphere, helping participants enter into the mystery of Christ’s love and sacrifice.
On Good Friday, the participants were led into deeper reflection through prayer and meditation animated by Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial. The Way of the Cross, moving from the Amphitheatre to the Social Forum, was a powerful experience of walking with Christ in His suffering. The day also included a penitential service, sacrament of reconciliation, and the solemn Good Friday liturgy led by Fr. John Barman MSFS. The evening’s dance drama titled “He Lives” creatively depicted the passion and hope of the Resurrection.
Holy Saturday will continue with sessions and preparations for the Easter Vigil. The solemn Vigil service, will be led by Fr. George P, Provincial MSFS.
The celebrations will culminate on Easter Sunday with the Holy Mass by Rev Fr. V.M. Thomas, Founder Director of DBI. The “Galilee Experience” and festive Easter lunch will add to a joyful conclusion to the spiritual journey, fostering fellowship and renewed faith among the participants.
