The students of Class VI of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Panbazar, showcased their creativity and culinary skills through a classroom project titled “Fireless Cooking: A Creative Culinary Activity” on Thursday, 8 October 2026. The activity provided an opportunity for the young learners to explore food preparation without using fire, combining creativity, teamwork, and healthy eating habits.

The project was carried out under the guidance of the class teachers, with valuable encouragement and support from other teachers of the school. The students enthusiastically prepared a variety of dishes, demonstrating their imagination, presentation skills, and ability to transform simple ingredients into attractive and appetising creations.

Rev. Fr. Alex Kattakayam SDB, Principal, and Rev. Fr. Bromio Ch. Marak SDB, Vice Principal, joined the students and teachers in celebrating this meaningful learning experience. Their presence encouraged the students to appreciate the importance of learning beyond textbooks and classrooms.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Alex Kattakayam observed that although the activity carried only five marks as part of the classroom assessment, the creativity, enthusiasm, and effort demonstrated by the students were truly commendable and worthy of appreciation. He emphasised the value of encouraging students to participate actively in practical learning experiences.

One of the teachers remarked that the activity was a hands-on learning programme that would equip students with useful skills for everyday life, including preparing simple dishes at home. Such experiences help children develop independence, confidence, cooperation, and an appreciation for food and nutrition. By combining education with creativity and practical skills, Don Bosco Senior Secondary School continues to encourage holistic development and make learning engaging, meaningful, and relevant to daily life.
