A three-day Charismatic Renewal Retreat was held from 13 to 15 March 2026 at St. Joseph’s Church Kumarikata, drawing a large number of faithful despite continuous rain. The retreat began at 9:00 a.m. on March 13 and invited the participants to renew their faith and deepen their relationship with God. The theme of the retreat, inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28, was: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
People from all walks of life, young and old, men, women, and children, participated in the retreat with great devotion. Even the rainy weather did not discourage the faithful, who gathered in large numbers with deep faith and enthusiasm to experience spiritual renewal and prayer.
The retreat was preached by Fr Rocque (Rocky) Michael, a Dominican priest serving in the Sahariajan in Dimapur area. Through his inspiring preaching, prayer sessions, and reflections, he encouraged the faithful to entrust their burdens to the Good Shepherd and experience the healing grace of God.
The number of participants increased significantly on Sunday, the final day of the retreat, as more parishioners joined the concluding celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with prayer, praise, and a renewed sense of commitment to Christian life.
At the conclusion of the retreat, Fr Amit Chama Lakra, SDB, Parish Priest of Kumarikata, congratulated and thanked the retreat preacher and all those who contributed to the success of the annual retreat. He also expressed hope that the spirit and fire of the retreat would continue to inspire the faithful in their daily Christian living.
