Snehalaya, Dhirenpara, welcomed Shri Vijay Kumar Gupta, Hon’ble MLA of Central Guwahati Constituency, who visited the institution along with Smt. Manjula Devi, Ward Councillor, on September 30. The visit provided an opportunity to interact with the children and appreciate Snehalaya’s ongoing efforts for the care, protection and development of vulnerable children.
The guests were warmly received by Rev. Fr. Lukose Cheruvalel SDB, Director of Snehalaya, along with the staff and children. Teachers and students from SSA, Mrs. Rita Sharma and Mrs. Namita Das, and Child Friendly Guwahati (CFG), represented by Ms. Jayashree Rabha and her students, also participated in the programme.
The programme began with a welcome song presented by the children of Snehalaya. Fr. Lukose then briefly introduced Snehalaya, highlighting its vision, mission and commitment to promoting the welfare, protection and dignity of children.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vijay Kumar Gupta spoke about the importance of child safety, child rights and education. He appreciated the dedicated services rendered by Snehalaya and assured the institution of his continued support in its mission for children.
Smt. Manjula Devi, Ward Councillor, also addressed the gathering and encouraged the children to remain focused on their studies and work hard to build a bright future.
The children added colour and joy to the occasion through dance performances and group songs, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere. Their performances were appreciated by the guests and participants.
At the conclusion of the visit, snacks were served to the children, guests and staff, sponsored by the team of the Hon’ble MLA.
Fr. Sebastian Ishorary SDB, Associate Director Snehalaya expressed sincere gratitude to Shri Vijay Kumar Gupta and Smt. Manjula Devi for their visit, encouragement and support for the children of Snehalaya. The visit concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the importance of community support and collective responsibility in ensuring the safety, education and well-being of children.
