In a significant step towards strengthening community resilience against natural calamities, Bosco Reach Out (BRO) on 25 February 2026 inaugurated a three-day training programme for the Disaster Response Team under the Strategic Action for Flood Emergencies (SAFE) project at its head office in Guwahati.
The inaugural session was graced by Rev Fr. Sebastian Ishorary SDB, Executive Director of BRO, who emphasized the urgent need for preparedness and coordinated response in the face of recurring floods in Assam. Highlighting the vision of the SAFE project, he encouraged the participants to become proactive agents of change and catalysts of hope in times of crisis.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Resource Person Team from the District Disaster Management Authority, Darrang, whose expertise enriched the training with both theoretical insights and hands-on practical sessions. The sessions covered disaster preparedness, first aid, evacuation protocols, coordination with local authorities, and strategies for minimizing risks during flood emergencies.
Twenty-five selected members of the Disaster Response Team from Morigaon district, Assam, are participating in the intensive training. Through simulations, group exercises, and field-oriented demonstrations, they are being equipped with the skills and confidence necessary to respond effectively during emergencies in their respective localities.
Bosco Reach Out extends its heartfelt gratitude to the District Disaster Management Authority, Darrang, for their generous collaboration and professional guidance in conducting this comprehensive capacity-building initiative. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding vulnerable communities and building a culture of preparedness.
