The Assam Plain Region of the Province held its Regional Meeting on 28 October 2026, focusing on preparations for the 23rd Provincial Chapter and reflecting on the implementation of the 29th General Chapter (GC29) in the Province.

The meeting included an animation session led by Fr Abhilash Vadakkekara, Provincial Chapter Moderator, on the theme, “Preparing for the 23rd Provincial Chapter and Reflecting on the Living Out of GC29 in Our Province.” The session provided an opportunity for the confreres to deepen their understanding of the key areas of GC29 and consider how its orientations could be translated into concrete actions at the provincial, regional and community levels.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Sebastian Kuricheal, Provincial, emphasized the importance of celebrating the Provincial Chapter at the regional level. He encouraged the confreres to reflect seriously on the core areas of GC29 and discern how the Province, each region and every Salesian community could take forward its priorities in the context of their respective responsibilities.

Fr Provincial also shared his reflections on the SPCSA gathering held in Delhi, where the Rector Major highlighted the importance of remaining rooted in the spirituality of Salesian life. He stressed the need to live an authentic Salesian life in community, strengthen community prayer and foster fraternity through meaningful community celebrations.

The meeting began with a welcome by Fr Bhaskar Raj Chinthamalla, Rector and Parish Priest, followed by prayer and the lighting of the lamp led by Fr Amit Chama Lakra. Fr Paul Minj presented the report of the Regional Meeting, while Fr Ethelbert Minj, Councillor and Rector, offered an introduction to the gathering.

Fr Provincial expressed his sincere gratitude to Fr Abhilash for his valuable contribution to the animation of the meeting and for making himself available to serve as the Provincial Chapter Moderator.
