The Salesian confreres of the Assam Plain Region gathered at Christ the King Church, Dimakuchi, on Friday, 16 October 2026, to offer the Holy Eucharist for the eternal repose of Rev. Fr. Xavier Tete SDB, who passed away on 2 October 2026. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was an occasion for prayer, remembrance and gratitude for the life and missionary service of the departed confrere.

Rev. Fr. Anugrah Tete SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Christ the King Church, Dimakuchi, welcomed the confreres and all those present at the beginning of the Holy Mass. He invited Rev. Fr. Ethelbert Minj SDB, Rector of the Missionary Aspirantate, Sirajuli, to preside over the Eucharistic celebration as the main celebrant.

In his homily, Fr. Ethelbert Minj fondly recalled the contributions of Fr. Xavier Tete during his lifetime, highlighting the significant impact his presence and dedicated service had on the lives of the people he encountered. He emphasised the importance of carrying forward the legacy of hard work, commitment and dedication to the Salesian mission that Fr. Xavier had exemplified throughout his life. His life and service, he noted, would continue to inspire confreres and the faithful for generations to come.

The hymns, thoughtfully chosen for the occasion, added a prayerful and meaningful dimension to the celebration, uniting the assembly in faith and hope in the resurrection.

At the conclusion of the Holy Mass, Fr. Anugrah Tete expressed his heartfelt gratitude, on behalf of the community and the hostel boys, to all the confreres who had gathered from various communities across the Assam Plain Region. He made special mention of Rev. Fr. Charles Deepen Lakra SDB, Fr. Francis Cherambeen SDB and Bro. Michael, who had come from the Don Bosco Provincial House, Guwahati, to join in the prayerful tribute.

The gathering reflected the Salesian spirit of fraternity, communion and mutual support, as the confreres united in prayer to honour the memory of their departed brother. The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment to continue the mission with the same dedication and zeal that marked Fr. Xavier Tete’s life.

May the Lord grant eternal rest to Rev. Fr. Xavier Tete SDB, and may his legacy of faithful service continue to inspire the Salesian mission for years to come.
