The clerics and brothers along with Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial on the concluding day of the Annual Spiritual Retreat at Joropara.

A week-long journey of spiritual renewal for the Salesians clerics and brothers of the province culminated this morning October 4, 2025with a Eucharistic celebration at the Don Bosco Skill Institute, Joropara. The Annual Spiritual Retreat, which commenced on September 28, brought together 28 clerics and brothers for a period of deep reflection, silence, and prayer.

The retreatants currently engaged in their Practical Training or pursuing College and University studies were guided in their spiritual exercises by Rev. Fr. Blasius Tete, SDB, from the Dimapur Province. Through his inspiring talks and meditations, Fr. Tete led the brothers into a deeper awareness of God’s presence and the beauty of living out their Salesian calling with joy and authenticity.

The retreat concluded with a Thanksgiving Mass on the morning of October 4, presided over by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial of the Guwahati Province. In his address, Fr. Kuricheal expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Blasius Tete for his spiritual guidance and pastoral accompaniment during the retreat, noting that such encounters help rejuvenate the spiritual life of the confreres.

Looking ahead, the Provincial exhorted the brothers to embrace a “new life” in the Spirit and to remain deeply committed to their Salesian vocation as they return to their respective communities, apostolates, and studies.

In his homily, Fr. Provincial presented a comprehensive roadmap for Salesian religious life, articulating key themes essential for personal holiness and apostolic fruitfulness. He emphasized the need for renewal of life and growth in holiness, urging the brothers to become “mystics in Spirit” who live with a profound awareness of God. He reminded them that this inner life must be made visible through the “sacrament of presence” a loving and attentive presence among the young.

Highlighting the daily demands of consecrated life, Fr. Provincial stressed the importance of faithfulness to one’s duties, a deep commitment to the vows, and a simplicity of life rooted in the Gospel. Drawing inspiration from Scripture, he invited the brothers to be authentic Salesian witnesses, combining sincerity of heart with a balanced focus on human and spiritual formation.

He further encouraged the brothers to “remain constantly in the presence of God”, to read the “signs of the times” with discernment, and to care for life holistically, ensuring that their ministry always aims at the salvation and integral growth of the young. The retreat provided a sacred pause from the regular rhythm of apostolic work, allowing the brothers to renew their inner strength, deepen their relationship with Christ, and rediscover the joy of following Don Bosco in serving the young with dedication and love.
