The Annual Sabha of Don Bosco Parish, Mendal, held at Anogre, came to a conclusion on the morning of 26 January 2026 with the celebration of the concluding Holy Mass. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Tomey Anikuzhikattil SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of Mendal.
The highlight of the Annual Sabha took place on Sunday, 25 January 2026, with the solemn Holy Mass celebrated by His Excellency Most Rev. Andrew R. Marak, D.D., Bishop of Tura. During the celebration, several youths received the Sacrament of Confirmation, while a number of children received their First Holy Communion, marking a moment of deep spiritual joy for the parish community.
In his homily, Bishop Andrew reflected on the historical significance of Anogre, the venue of the Sabha. He recalled how early missionaries such as Fr George Stadler SDB and Fr Battista Busolin SDB had travelled to and stayed in Anogre during their missionary journeys. He noted that although there were no Catholics in the village during those early days, today Anogre stands as a faith-filled Christian community, a testimony to the tireless efforts of the missionaries who proclaimed God’s Word. The Bishop congratulated Don Bosco Parish, Mendal, for the successful organization of the Annual Sabha and exhorted those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation to live their Catholic faith with dedication and commitment.
Rev. Fr Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial of Guwahati, administered the First Holy Communion to the children. Following the Holy Mass, a Eucharistic Adoration was held, during which special prayers were offered for the various needs of the Church and society.
At the conclusion of the celebrations, Fr Tomey Anikuzhikattil SDB expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the parish to Bishop Andrew R. Marak D.D., the Salesian confreres, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the Annual Sabha.
