In a significant step towards embracing technological advancement in education, the Principals and Vice Principals of the Garo Hills region on May 2, 2026, participated in a highly engaging and practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop held at Don Bosco School, Tura. The workshop was animated by Mr. Ashwin Patel and his dedicated team from Braintech Education, Mumbai.
The programme was organized by Rev. Fr. Threnius N. Sangma, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Tura, who warmly welcomed the participants. In his inaugural address, Fr. Threnius highlighted the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in today’s educational landscape. He stressed that AI is no longer a distant concept but a present-day reality shaping how teaching, learning, and administration are carried out.
He emphasized that such training programmes are the need of the hour, as educators must stay updated to remain effective in their mission. Fr. Threnius pointed out that school leaders have a crucial responsibility not only to understand AI themselves but also to guide teachers and students in using it wisely and ethically. He noted that AI, when used properly, can enhance productivity, support creativity, and simplify many routine academic and administrative tasks.
He further encouraged the participants to see AI not as a replacement for human intelligence, but as a powerful tool that complements human effort. “Our role as educators is to form young minds, and technology like AI should serve that purpose,” he remarked. He urged the school heads to take proactive steps in integrating AI tools into their institutions while ensuring that values, critical thinking, and discipline remain at the core of education.
The workshop covered a wide range of practical applications including prompt engineering, content creation, automated reports, communication tools, and AI-assisted teaching methodologies. The sessions were interactive and hands-on, enabling participants to explore how AI can be effectively used in day-to-day school functioning.
The organizers expressed sincere appreciation to all the Principals and Vice Principals for their enthusiastic participation and openness to learning. Special gratitude was extended to Braintech Education, Mumbai, for conducting such a timely and impactful workshop.
