Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) has achieved another milestone in the field of innovation and research as a final-year Mechanical Engineering student project has been granted a patent by the Patent Office, Government of India.

The patented invention, titled “LPG Cylinder Carriage for Pedal Propelled Cycle Rickshaw,” was originally developed in 2018 as part of the students’ final-year engineering project. After years of dedication, technical refinement, and procedural perseverance, the innovation has now received formal patent recognition, marking a proud moment for the university and the young innovators behind the project.

The patent was granted on 30 April 2026 under the Patents Act, 1970. The inventors named in the patent include Bishnu Prakash Medhi, Suraj Baidya, Siddhartha Bora, Asna Doley, and Dr. Vikramjit Kakati.

The innovative project aims to provide a practical and efficient solution for the safe transportation of LPG cylinders using pedal-propelled cycle rickshaws, thereby contributing to sustainable and eco-friendly transportation methods.

The prototype of the project was fabricated by M/s Dipon Design Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati, Assam, whose technical support played an important role in transforming the students’ concept into a working model.
