Under the star-studded canopy of the beautiful evening of November 27 and 28, the entire Don Bosco School, Panbazar family came together to celebrate the achievements and memories of the year gone by through the spectacular Don Bosco Annual Day 2025-26 with the theme – “In Rythm With Life: The Bosco Celebration”. The programme coordinators were Doly Christina Bamon, Linette Pereira Marbaniang, Jiniya Bhattacharya, Sarmistha Deb and Dr. Luna Das.
The event started by paying homage to people’s heartthrob, legend and guiding star of Assamese culture, Zubeen Garg followed with a welcome song by the students. The entire auditorium went silent as the talented Bosconians took the stage and performed a melodious orchestra presentation. This was followed by the Principal of the institution, Fr. (Dr.) Alex Mathew addressing the august gathering with his words of wisdom.
The Chief Guest on the opening day was B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, while the Guest of Honour was Prasanta J. Baruah, Senior Journalist and Distinguished Professor, RSCOM, Royal Global University. On the second day, Indrani Laskar, ACS, Additional Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Assam was the Chief Guest, while Devajyoti Hazarika, IAS (retd.), former Commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) was the Guest of Honour. All these dignitaries enlightened the audience with their profound wisdom and knowledge through their speeches.
Some of the other attractions on both days were ‘Tip Tap Toe’, a joyful dance performance by Kindergarten students, ‘Dancing Stars’, a vibrant medley performance by students of classes 1 and 2, ‘Vande Nrityam’, celebrating India through an energetic dance presentation by classes 5, 6 and 7, ‘Timeless Frames’, a grand showcase of 100 years of Indian cinema by senior secondary students and ‘Melodies’, a soulful song performance by students of classes 3 and 4. The show stopper, the last show for the Annual Day was one which brought tears into the eyes of the audience. It was a dance-drama to pay tribute to the legend, Zubeen Garg, titled ‘Jibon Zubeen: The Life and Legacy of the Legend’. Written and directed by Rohan Gautam Sharma, co-directed by B. Palkee and under the guidance of faculty members Sehnaz Ahmed, Elora Das, Dipanjali Sharma Shyam, Paramita Banerjee and Dipshikha Sharma, the students of classes 8 and 9 performed an emotional and heartfelt dance-drama on the life of the legend. With an entire tearful auditorium singing Mayabini together, the Annual Day celebrations finally came to a close.
