SNEHALAYA CFG TEAM JOIN HANDS WITH CIVIL SOCIETY TO HELP THE POOR AND SUFFERING DURING THE COVID 19 & LOCKDOWN
SNEHALAYA CFG staff team joined hands together with the Helping Hands group along with the civil society group to reach out to the poor and suffering people of Guwahati city during the Covid – 19 and lockdown situation March to May 2020. Since the Snehalaya CFG (Child Friendly Guwahati) working for the poor, broken and underprivileged children for the last 20 years also, Snehalaya has 5 residential homes as well as outreach programs called Child Friendly Guwahati reaching out to about 5000 children and promoting all rights to all children along with the parents, stake holders, government teachers and the local community members.
During the Covid – 19 and Lockdown periods, the SnehalayaCFG family along with the civil society was able to reach out to so many individuals, families and communities, especially slum areas in the city of Guwahati. The target group is women and children along with their family members especially to the slum and migrants’ families living in the city of Guwahati. During the lockdown of different phases, the team was able to reach out and distributed to about 12, 790 poor families with 37,100 food packets, masks, sanitizers and giving awareness on the health issue more especially the Covid – 19. The team has been reaching out every day to different locations as mentioned in the chart to distribute required items. The reaching out continued in 1st 2nd &3rd phase of lockdown mentioned date wise in the chart details. The police personnel from the government also were very useful and helpful especially during the distribution of the food items. It is not that easy to handle the people as well get things done. There had been well planning and joining hands with the civil society so that everything will go on smoothly as well as many more people can be given helping hands. With regards to the expenses, there had been many generous people and individuals who contributed and collected for the noble cause. During the distribution of the food packets, the social distance and maintained discipline. The beneficiaries were happy and ever grateful to the distributing team members.
It was a joyful sharing experience in spite of critical situation and challenges. Snehalaya FCG along with the civil society collaborators hand together with strong networking for this noble cause. There had been very good cooperation both from the civil society as well as the government police. SnehalayaCFG family feels good and satisfied since able to help our own CFG children and their family members. The beneficiaries were very happy and grateful to the staff team.
