ONE DAY SEMINAR FOR PRINCIPALS OF ING SCHOOLS
Guwahati, March 9, 2020: 32 ING Principals gathered together for a day of animation in Don Bosco Provincial House, Guwahati. The Seminar was organised by the Education Commission (Schools) under the leadership of Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal (Delegate for Schools). Mrs Gowri Mahesh and Mrs Chenda from Bengaluru were the resource persons.
Rev. Fr Joseph Teron (Vice Provincial) welcomed the participants and invited them to make good use of the opportunity to improve our schools.
The resource persons touched upon the three themes, namely, School administration/management, handling of students, teachers, parents and taking the school forward. The participants were asked to randomly put down into writing the various strategies that will help in planning by K, W and L chart. ‘K’ stands for ‘What you already know’, ‘W’ stands for ‘What you want to know’ and ‘L’ stands for ‘What you’ll learn at the end of the course. The ‘Swot’ formula (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) were also explained to the participants in order to plan and evaluate in an effective manner.
Building relationships, policy making, book keeping, documentation, capacity building, regular training, lesson plans, rules of evaluation, making the system in its place, building student engagement system were also highlighted during the seminar.
The principals who attended the seminar expressed their satisfaction at the end of the workshop. “It was indeed a learning time” for us said one of the participants.
