Honorary Doctorate in Education to Fr. Solomon Joseph for “Innovative Teaching Learning in Education
In a recently concluded convocation of the Mother Teresa University for Peace and Education, Harvard, Australia at Hotel, The Capitol on 10th March Bengaluru 2020, Fr. Dennis Solomon, Principal and Assistant Parish Priest of Don Bosco High School and Parish, Amkachi, Karbi Anglong, Assam, was conferred with honorary doctorate in Education for “Innovative Teaching Learning in education” especially to the poorest of the poor tribal children in the remotest part of North East. The award was presented by special guest of honour and key note speaker Ms. Dixi, Alaska, USA, along with all the Syndicate member of the University. They also presented awards across various categories in the presence of over 300 guests including eminent business leaders and women entrepreneurs at a function organized at The Capitol Hotel, Bengaluru.
Commenting on this Honorary Doctorate Fr. Solomon acknowledged that he would like to dedicate this recognition to the entire congregation of Salesians (SDB) and the visionary leaders for giving him the opportunity to serve the community under the guidance of all the abled leaders of SDB North East. He also said that Nothing makes me happier than to bring a smile on the face of those who can’t afford it – either because life is hard on them or they are hard on life! When you show a person in crisis that there is a way out, you are actually manifesting the divinity in you.
Fr Solomon has recently been awarded “Exclusive Social Award” by Exclusive World Records for 22 years of “Par Excellence in Humanitarian Service”. During this tenure he was instrumental in starting 40 Study Centres for street children of Guwahati and made YouTube Documentary under the title Snehalaya – an abode of love. He also concluded many exchange programmes with Ocean beat students in Peru, Alaska and Assam Tribal India. Ocean Beat is a project of Turning the Tides (turningthetides.org), a Juneau based non-profit that uses music – a language of the heart – to bring together students from around the world to work and to sing, dance and drum together for the earth. Their goal is an international internet concert in 2021 that celebrates healthy oceans and young people everywhere making a difference. Fr Solomon philosophy in life is that ‘Every human being and creature of this world should be given proper love, care and shelter with no partiality’.
