Inauguration of Academic year and Release of School Magazine in Umswai
11 February 2020 Umswai: On the occasion of the Inauguration of the new academic year 2020 of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Umswai the second edition of the school magazine titled, “The DB Umswai 2019” was released on 11th February 2020 by Rev. Quirinus Syiemlieh SDB, Parish Priest of St. Paul Church, Amkachi in a grand and solemn function held in the school premise. Also present were Fr. AT Thomas SDB, Rector and Parish Priest, Fr. Jonas Toppo, Administrator, Sr. Celina Maslai FMA, Superior of Auxilium Convent, neighbouring heads of schools and some local leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Quirinus who was also the chief guest congratulated the school and the teachers for bringing out the school magazine that contains well ‘written articles, poems and captivating photographs’. Drawing inspiration from the image of Don Bosco in the back drop he said that Don Bosco was a dreamer. He had dreams for his boys of his time. “Today Don Bosco, through the institution, has a dream for each and every bosconian of the school”, he said while urging each student to realise that dream with the help of parents and teachers.
Others who spoke were Fr. AT Thomas SDB, Rector and parish preist and Fr. Albert Thyrniang who welcomed everyone to the function and recalled the main events of the last scholastic year 2019.
KG kids, students of IV, VII, IX and XI danced beautifully and sang melodiously much to the delight of the guests and cheers of their fellow students. Well begun and this is half done.
