Rev. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, called upon the clerics and brothers attending the annual retreat to renew their commitment to consecrated life, deepen their relationship with Christ, and prepare themselves to serve the Church and society with renewed missionary zeal.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the retreatants during the goodnight talk on the opening day of the Retreat for Clerics and Brothers 2026<\/em> at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Tapesia Gardens, Sonapur, Fr Kuricheal described the retreat as a precious opportunity to step away from daily responsibilities, enter into silence and prayer, and rediscover the meaning and purpose of their religious vocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emphasising the importance of consecrated life, the Provincial reminded the retreatants that their identity as religious is rooted not merely in what they do but, above all, in who they are. He urged them to become more conscious of their consecration to the Lord and to renew the promises and commitments they had made. He stressed that religious life must be a visible witness to Christ, as people are inspired more by authentic Christian living than by words alone. Their actions, he observed, must reflect the values they profess and the faith they proclaim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr Kuricheal encouraged the retreatants to make the best use of the days of spiritual renewal by giving themselves wholeheartedly to prayer, reflection, and personal encounter with God. He noted that the demands of ministry and community life can sometimes leave little room for silence and introspection. The retreat, therefore, offered a valuable opportunity to regain lost energy, refocus their purpose, and strengthen their commitment to the Salesian mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also highlighted the importance of availability and generosity in religious life, reminding the young Salesians that their consecration calls them to be ready to move wherever the Lord and the mission need them. Their willingness to serve should not be limited by personal convenience or preference but should arise from a genuine desire to fulfil God’s will and accompany young people entrusted to their care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Provincial further urged the retreatants to deepen their relationship with Christ, making Him the centre of their lives and the foundation of their apostolic service. He encouraged them to prepare themselves to become committed missionaries, ready to serve wherever they might be assigned and to contribute to the growth of the Church and the betterment of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding his goodnight talk, Fr Kuricheal invited the retreatants to set aside distractions and enter wholeheartedly into the retreat experience. He expressed the hope that these days of prayer and reflection would help each participant grow closer to Christ, renew his religious commitment, and become a more authentic witness to the Gospel in the Salesian community and mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retreat, held from 17 to 23 October 2026, is being preached by Rev. Fr Kuriala Chittattukalam SDB under the theme \u201cRemain in My Love\u201d (John 15:9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
