The Province celebrated the Jubilee of the Confreres 2026<\/em> on Saturday, 10 October, with a solemn Eucharistic celebration and a felicitation programme at St Joseph\u2019s Co-Cathedral Church and Mama Margaret Hall, Panbazar. The celebration honoured confreres marking significant milestones in their religious profession and priestly ordination, expressing gratitude for their years of faithful service to God, the Church, the Salesian Congregation and the young.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The celebration began with the Holy Mass at St Joseph\u2019s Co-Cathedral Church, with Rev. Fr Marzo Alfred, the Platinum Jubilarian, as the main celebrant. Rev. Fr Almeida Joseph, the Golden Jubilarian, delivered the homily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second part of the celebration took place at Mama Margaret Hall, where confreres, members of the Salesian Family, friends and well-wishers gathered for the felicitation programme. Rev. Fr Topno Wilson served as the comp\u00e8re. The programme began with a prayer dance presented by DBI students, followed by an address by Rev. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the felicitation programme, the Provincial highlighted the Jubilee as a celebration of God\u2019s grace, guidance and faithfulness in the lives of the jubilarians. He observed that the celebration was not merely a commemoration of years of religious profession or priestly ministry, but an opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful ways in which God had accompanied and sustained the confreres throughout their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Provincial expressed gratitude for the jubilarians\u2019 commitment to the Province, the Church of Northeast India and the people they had served. Referring particularly to Fr Alfred Marzo, who was celebrating 75 years of religious profession and 75 years of service in India, he commended his missionary dedication, perseverance and joyful acceptance of life\u2019s challenges. Despite the difficulties he had encountered, Fr Marzo had continued his journey without regret, offering an inspiring example to the younger generations of Salesians and missionaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the different jubilees being celebrated, Fr Kuricheal reminded the gathering that the confreres\u2019 years of service were ultimately a testimony to God\u2019s goodness. Drawing inspiration from St Paul\u2019s words, \u201cI can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,\u201d he emphasised that their mission had been sustained by God\u2019s grace and strength. He invited everyone to continue praying for the jubilarians, asking the Lord to bless them with good health, deepen their spiritual lives and enable them to continue serving the people of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding his address, Fr Kuricheal called on the confreres to pursue holiness, drawing inspiration from the lives of veteran missionaries and those whose jubilees were being celebrated. He stressed that personal holiness should become a source of blessing for the people they serve and encouraged everyone to follow the example of faithful missionaries whose lives continue to inspire the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The felicitation ceremony honoured the confreres celebrating different milestones in their religious and priestly journeys. Rev. Fr Sangma Albert D. felicitated the Platinum and Diamond Jubilarians marking their first religious profession, while Rev. Fr Lakra Vivek felicitated the Golden Jubilarians celebrating their first profession. Rev. Fr Lakra Narendra felicitated the Golden and Silver Jubilarians marking their priestly ordination, and Rev. Fr Sangma Peter Canisius felicitated the Silver Jubilarians celebrating their first religious profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation of mementoes to the jubilarians and the cake-cutting ceremony added to the joy of the occasion. A thanksgiving dance by Snehalaya expressed gratitude for the gift of the jubilarians\u2019 vocations and their years of dedicated service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme continued with words of appreciation from Rev. Fr Sangma Denis T., representing the Golden Jubilarians, and Bro Indwar Benjamin Rosant, representing the Silver Jubilarian. Their expressions of gratitude reflected the importance of perseverance, fidelity and commitment in living out one\u2019s vocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
