Snehalaya Centre for Child Rights, Paltan Bazar, in collaboration with ESAF Foundation, organised a Stakeholders\u2019 Meet<\/strong> on September 29, 2026 at Mario Hall, Don Bosco Provincial House, Pan Bazar, bringing together government officials, law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations and development partners to strengthen collective action for child protection and community development.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The meeting focused on child rights, protection of vulnerable children, poverty reduction, sanitation, urban development and community participation. It provided a platform for stakeholders to share field experiences, identify challenges and explore avenues for stronger collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme began with a prayer led by Sr Mariam Kindo FMA, followed by a welcome address by Fr Lukose Cheruvalel SDB, Director of Snehalaya. He highlighted Gandhiji\u2019s Talisman, multidimensional poverty and vulnerability, and the need for strong organisational values and a child-safety-oriented approach in working with vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kamrup (Metro), spoke on child rights, child protection and the functioning of observation homes, sharing practical experiences from the field. The District Social Welfare Officer, Women and Child Development Department, outlined government welfare schemes, early childhood care, Childline services and key concerns related to child protection and domestic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Deputy Commissioner of Police highlighted civic responsibility and road safety, while a representative of ESAF Foundation presented its approach to urban development, liveable cities, public spaces and community transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Project Manager of Snehalaya\u2019s Child Friendly Guwahati (CFG) Project presented the initiative\u2019s objectives, interventions and achievements during 2025\u201326, including rescue operations and community-based activities. The Executive Officer of the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) addressed issues concerning child livelihood, sanitation, cleanliness, child protection and access to government schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An interactive discussion followed, enabling participants to share experiences and suggestions for improving coordination among government agencies, civil society organisations and community partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Project Manager of CFG, followed by words of appreciation from Sr Mariam Kindo, FMA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
