Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon, retained the Inter-Parish Knock-Out Football Tournament title with an emphatic 7\u20130 victory over Umrangso Parish of Dima Hasao in the final played at the Sojong Parish playground on 19 September 2026. The victory secured Satgaon\u2019s third consecutive championship and further strengthened the team\u2019s remarkable record in the tournament.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The final was played in the presence of Rev. Fr. John Timung, Vicar General of the Diocese of Diphu, who was the chief guest and other dignitaries. From the opening whistle, Satgaon displayed confidence, discipline and attacking flair. The team, clad in its familiar yellow and blue colours, dominated the match and eventually completed a convincing 7\u20130 victory over the defending champions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this triumph, Satgaon has now won the tournament for three consecutive years. Even more impressively, the team has remained unbeaten throughout the past three editions, a record that reflects the consistency, commitment and talent of the young players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Satgaon also dominated the individual awards. Jack Sangma, who played a pivotal role in midfield, was named Man of the Match, while Aksai Sangma received the Best Goalkeeper Award. Reberent Sangma emerged as the tournament\u2019s highest scorer for the second consecutive year, finding the net 12 times during the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managed by Joel Marak, Satgaon made its intentions clear early in the final. After about 20 minutes of play, Shining Sangma opened the scoring with a close-range finish, sending the large contingent of Satgaon supporters into loud celebration. The team continued to press and added another goal before the interval, taking a comfortable lead into half-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Umrangso came out after the break with a more attacking approach, hoping to reduce the deficit. In pushing forward, however, they left considerable spaces in their defence. Satgaon capitalised on the openings with clinical finishing, adding goal after goal and eventually turning the final into a one-sided contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the team\u2019s success was also the steady encouragement and pastoral support of the three Salesians of Satgaon Parish. Individuals from the parish came forward also with generous financial contributions. Before each departure for the matches and prior to every game, one of the Salesians would address the players with a short pep talk, encouraging them to play with discipline, unity and sportsmanship. They also offered prayers for the safety of the players and for an incident-free tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s tournament was held in memory of the late Solomon Timung and the late Virginia Beypi, parents of Fr. John Timung, Vicar General of the Diocese of Diphu. The final was alos attended by Fr. Nelson Teron, Chairman of the Inter-Parish Football Federation; Fr. Samson Teron, Vice-President; and other officials of the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
