The Meeting of the Social Communication Commission of the Province, was held at the Provincial House, Guwahati, on 19 September 2026 at 10.30 a.m. The meeting brought together members of the Commission to review the Province\u2019s communication initiatives and to identify concrete lines of action for strengthening social communication.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The meeting began with a prayer led by Fr Bromio Marak, invoking God\u2019s guidance for the Commission\u2019s deliberations and apostolate. Fr Joy Kachappilly, Delegate for Social Communication, then welcomed the members and highlighted the importance of effective and responsible communication in promoting the Salesian mission among young people and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A major part of the meeting was devoted to the evaluation of the September 2026 issue of ING Newsline<\/em>. The members reflected on the content, presentation, coverage and communication value of the publication, with a view to making future issues more informative, timely and engaging. The discussion also focused on improving the flow of information from communities and institutions across the Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr Joy Kachappilly presented the matters arising from the Missionary Symposium, particularly the lines of action relevant to the Social Communication Commission. The members discussed ways of translating these recommendations into concrete communication initiatives that can support the Province\u2019s missionary identity and outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also presented the matters arising from the Meeting of Province Delegates held in Mumbai on 28\u201329 August 2026. The presentation provided an opportunity for the Commission to examine the implications of the discussions and identify areas requiring follow-up at the provincial level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting further reviewed updates concerning various Province publications. Attention was given to strengthening coordination, maintaining quality and ensuring that the Province\u2019s publications effectively communicate its pastoral, educational, missionary and youth-oriented activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another significant session was the presentation by Fr Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, who provided an overview of the Website and Social Media Platforms of the Province. The presentation highlighted the importance of maintaining an active and coordinated digital presence and using the Province\u2019s online platforms effectively to share news, events, initiatives and Salesian experiences with a wider audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The members also discussed various matters under Varia, including issues related to communication, coordination and future initiatives of the Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting concluded with a prayer led by Fr Charles Lakra. The deliberations reaffirmed the Commission\u2019s commitment to strengthening social communication as an integral part of the Salesian mission and to using both traditional and digital media to share the life, mission and experiences of the Province more effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
