Don Bosco College of Teacher Education, Tura, celebrated the 80th<\/sup> Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 with patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and gratitude for the nation\u2019s freedom. The celebration brought together the Principal, faculty members and teacher-trainees of the college.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The programme began at the college entrance with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the salute and singing of the National Anthem. The gathering then proceeded to the seminar hall for the main programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration commenced with a Scripture reading by Amrey A. Sangma and an opening prayer led by Dombean A. Sangma. Ms. Banakia delivered the welcome address. The 1st<\/sup> Semester teacher-trainees presented a patriotic dance, followed by an Independence Day speech by Chiame S. Sangma, who highlighted the values of freedom, unity, patriotism and responsible citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A video presentation and the symbolic placing of little Indian flags added meaning to the celebration. The 1st<\/sup> Semester teacher-trainees also presented a patriotic song, evoking a strong sense of national pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Principal, Dr Fr Pius Varghese, SDB, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of responsible citizenship, discipline and service to the nation. A group song by the 3rd<\/sup> Semester students was followed by an Anti-Tobacco Pledge, encouraging the participants to contribute towards building a healthy and responsible society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cultural programme continued with a solo dance by Ojoy Sangma of the 3rd<\/sup> Semester. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mebalari Lunadoch Nengnana, who expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
