The Symposium Proceedings<\/em> of the recently concluded Salesian Symposium commemorating the 150th<\/sup> Anniversary of the First Salesian Expedition<\/strong> was officially released during the Regional Meeting of the Garo Hills and Rabha Hasong Regions on 1 August 2026. The publication, titled Pioneers, Pathways and New Frontiers: Salesian Charism Today<\/em><\/strong>, brings together the papers, discussions, and final statement of the historic symposium held in May 2026.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The book was ceremonially released by Rev. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial, in the presence of Rev. Fr Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial; Rev. Fr Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, Economer; Rev. Fr Januarius S. Sangma SDB; and Rev. Fr Joseph Almeida SDB, both former Provincials. The release was witnessed by the Salesian confreres serving in the Garo Hills and Rabha Hasong Regions of the Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 302-page volume documents the proceedings of the two-day Symposium held under the theme \u201cGive Thanks, Rethink, and Relaunch,\u201d marking 150 years since Don Bosco sent the first Salesian missionaries in 1875. The publication contains keynote addresses, scholarly papers, panel discussions, reflections on apostolates across Northeast India, and the symposium’s final statement, offering valuable insights into the future of Salesian works in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edited by Fr Joy Kachappilly SDB, Fr Bivan R. Mukhim SDB, and Fr Charles Deepen Lakra SDB, the volume has been published by Don Bosco Communications, Guwahati. It is intended as a resource for Salesians, members of the Salesian Family, educators, and all those engaged in the Salesian Education, preserving the rich deliberations of the symposium while inspiring renewed commitment for the years ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the significance of the publication, the Provincial highlighted that the proceedings are not merely a record of an event but a guide for reflection and action, inviting the Salesian Family to carry forward Don Bosco’s vision with renewed zeal, creativity, and fidelity to the young, especially the poor and the marginalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
