A total of 847 Garo migrant youth from Meghalaya and Assam, living and working in Mumbai, gathered at the Shrine of Don Bosco, Matunga, on July 26 for their monthly faith and fellowship gathering, organised by the Suraksha Migrant Desk, Matunga, in collaboration with Don Bosco Balprafulta.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The event gave the young migrants an opportunity for prayer, fellowship, and recreation, offering spiritual support and community amid urban life and work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme began with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Cherak Sangma, SDB, of Don Bosco Green Skill Institute, Jorapara, Meghalaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his homily, Fr. Sangma reminded the congregation of God’s constant love and presence in every stage of life. He encouraged the youth to deepen their faith through the Eucharist, describing Christ as the greatest treasure in their lives. Acknowledging the challenges faced by migrant workers, he urged them to trust in God’s providence, remain steadfast in difficulties, and keep the Kingdom of God as their ultimate goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Eucharistic celebration, the participants gathered at the Don Bosco Matunga turf for a football tournament with seven teams: four boys’ and three girls’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sporting event reflected Don Bosco’s tradition of promoting teamwork, discipline, healthy competition, and mutual respect through games. For many of the migrant youth, the tournament also offered a welcome chance to relax after a demanding work week while strengthening friendships and community ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
