The Summer Time Youth Ministry (STYM) 2026, themed “Animating Young Hearts in the Spirit of Don Bosco,”<\/strong> was successfully held at Kumarikata Parish from 17 to 19 July 2026<\/strong>, bringing together more than 160 young people<\/strong> from different villages of the parish for three days of faith formation, spiritual renewal, fellowship and personal growth.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The programme commenced on 17 July with an inaugural ceremony attended by Bro. Pabitro Guria of the Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) as the chief guest, accompanied by fellow brothers of the congregation. Fr. Amit Chama Lakra SDB, Parish Priest, welcomed the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity for learning and spiritual growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Bro. Pabitro challenged the youth to become more “alive” in their daily lives, particularly in their faith, reminding them that STYM was a special occasion to deepen their relationship with God. The opening day also included the recitation of the Holy Rosary, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Jyotish Beck SDB, of Sashipur, with several priests concelebrating. In his homily, Fr. Jyotish encouraged the young people to use the camp as a platform for learning about faith and life. The day concluded with an introduction session and an overview of the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second day began with morning prayer and the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Amit Chama, with Fr. Victor Tigga SDB and Fr. Albinus Dhanwar SDB as concelebrants. The day’s animation sessions covered a variety of topics relevant to youth formation. Br. Jonathan Dungdung conducted an inspiring session on The Parable of the Pencil<\/em>, Br. Lebanus Kullu spoke on leadership qualities, while Br. Phabian Baglari addressed the challenges faced by today’s youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon featured creative Bible-based activities, group reflections and preparations for the cultural evening. After the Holy Rosary, youth groups presented vibrant cultural dances that showcased their talents and strengthened the spirit of fellowship within the parish community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final day began with morning prayer followed by a session on the Seven Sacraments led by Br. Lebanus Kullu. The highlight of the concluding day was the visit of His Grace Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, who was warmly welcomed by the parish youth. The Archbishop presided over the concluding Holy Eucharist and, in his homily, encouraged the young participants to remain dynamic in their faith and to grow stronger in the love of Christ. Fr. Amit Chama and several priests concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the Mass, the youth organized a felicitation programme to honour the Archbishop for his pastoral visit. The concluding ceremony expressed gratitude to all the priests, brothers, volunteers and participants who contributed to the success of the programme. The event concluded with the lowering of the parish flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
