Don Bosco School, Umswai successfully organized a two-day Scout and Guide Camp on July 4\u20135, 2026, bringing together students from Don Bosco School, Umswai and Don Bosco School, Amkachi. The camp was aimed at nurturing leadership, discipline, teamwork, self-reliance, and a spirit of service among young scouts and guides.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The camp was conducted under the leadership of the Principal of Don Bosco School, Umswai, Rev. Fr. Saju Kariyil, SDB, with the dedicated support of Fr. Sanjosh Sangma, SDB, Fr. Ranjit Xalxo, SDB, Fr. Joachim Pumah, SDB, Sr. Selibon, and the Salesian brothers from the communities of Amkachi and Umswai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 50 Scouts and Guides participated in the camp, engaging in a wide range of educational and outdoor activities designed to develop practical skills and strengthen character. The participants attended training sessions on various scouting techniques, including different types of knots, Scout laws and promises, Scout codes, flag etiquette, first aid, and essential camping skills. They were also introduced to several Scout and Guide knacks that enhance resourcefulness, observation, and survival skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventure formed an integral part of the programme, with trekking, outdoor games, team-building exercises, and nature-based activities encouraging participants to develop courage, resilience, and cooperation. The camp also included campfire sessions, group discussions, action songs, and value-based reflections that fostered friendship, mutual respect, and confidence among the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the participants, Rev. Fr. Saju Kariyil, SDB, emphasized the importance of scouting in the holistic formation of young people. He said that the camp helps students learn the fundamentals of scouting, preparing them to face emergencies and unexpected situations with confidence, discipline, and presence of mind. He encouraged the students to embody the Scout motto, “Be Prepared,” not only during camps but also in their daily lives by becoming responsible, compassionate, and service-oriented citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camp concluded with a closing ceremony where participants shared their experiences and reflected on the valuable lessons learned over the two days. Certificates of participation were distributed, and the organizers expressed their appreciation to all the staff members, volunteers, and students for their enthusiastic participation and cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
