The rolling green hills of Shallang echoed with hymns of praise, fervent prayers, and the joyful voices of the faithful as Sacred Heart Parish, Shallang, celebrated its Parish Day with great devotion and enthusiasm on Sunday, 14 June 2026. The occasion brought together thousands of parishioners, clergy, religious, and guests in a vibrant manifestation of faith, unity, and Christian fellowship.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the celebration was the solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Bishop of Nongstoin Diocese, Most Rev. Wilbert Marwein, whose presence brought immense joy to the parish community. The faithful gathered in large numbers, dressed in their finest traditional and festive attire, to welcome their shepherd and participate in this significant parish event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his inspiring homily, Bishop Marwein reflected on the patronal identity of the parish and emphasized the boundless love, compassion, and mercy flowing from the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He urged the faithful to remain steadfast in the faith handed down to them by the early missionaries and their ancestors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is not something we keep hidden within the walls of our homes or our church. It is a love that must be actively lived out and shared with everyone we encounter,\u201d the Bishop reminded the congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He challenged the parishioners to become living witnesses of Christ\u2019s love by fostering peace, charity, and understanding within their families, villages, and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the Holy Mass, the celebrations continued with a Felicitation Programme organized by the Parish Council. Parishioners warmly welcomed and honoured the Bishop, the newly confirmed faithful, and various groups and organizations that contribute to parish life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme featured colourful cultural performances, traditional dances, songs, and expressions of gratitude presented by youth groups, women\u2019s associations, and various pious organizations. These performances beautifully showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region while highlighting the harmonious integration of local traditions with Christian values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most meaningful moments during the felicitation was the presentation of practical gifts to the parish in the form of large cooking pots and pans. These gifts symbolized the community\u2019s collective responsibility and commitment to sustaining parish gatherings, retreats, feast days, and fellowship meals for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
