The Salesian Pre-novitiate House at Dotma witnessed a significant moment in the vocational journey of twenty-two young aspirants as they were formally initiated into the Pre-novitiate Course during a solemn Holy Mass held on the morning of 2 June 2026.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The initiation ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial, who officially welcomed the twenty-two candidates into the Pre-novitiate formation programme. Present for the occasion were Rev. Fr. Sebastian Edathumparambil, SDB, Rector of Dotma, Rev. Fr. Mackley Gomes, SDB, Director of the Pre-novitiate House, and Rev. Fr. Ajay Xaxa, SDB, Administrator, along with members of the Salesian community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his homily, Fr. Bivan described the occasion as a proud and joyful moment for the Province and the Pre-novitiate House. He emphasized that the initiation marked the beginning of a deeper commitment to discerning God\u2019s call and preparing for religious life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the significance of the cross that each pre-novice would receive, the Vice Provincial explained that it serves as a reminder of the public vows they will one day profess in the novitiate. \u201cYou are invited to live obedient, poor, and chaste like Jesus,\u201d he said. Drawing inspiration from Christ\u2019s example, he reminded the candidates that \u201cthough Jesus was one with God, He emptied Himself and became like us in all things except sin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr. Bivan also highlighted the symbolism of the offering made during the ceremony, connecting it to the grace of Baptism. He noted that just as their parents once brought them to the altar to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit at Baptism, they would continue to accompany them in their vocational journey, leading them to significant milestones such as First Profession, Final Profession, and eventually Ordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing gratitude to the Salesian community at Dotma, the Vice Provincial thanked the confreres for their dedication in guiding and nurturing the candidates. He encouraged the pre-novices to make the most of their year of formation by fostering growth in the human, spiritual, intellectual, and psychological dimensions of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further urged them to cultivate a deep love for Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and to develop a thorough understanding of Don Bosco and the Salesian Congregation. Such formation, he said, would equip them to embrace the Salesian charism fully and dedicate themselves to the service of God and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
