On 29 May 2026, t<\/strong>hirty-three (33) young aspirants, ten (10) from the Province of Guwahati were formally initiated into the Salesian Novitiate Life at St. Dominic Savio Novitiate, Don Bosco Sunnyside, Upper Shillong<\/strong>, in a solemn ceremony presided over by Rev. Fr. Jeevan Lakra, SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In his homily, Fr. Jeevan Lakra thanked God for the gift of vocations, saying, \u201cWe thank God for this gift.\u201d<\/em> He encouraged the new novices to live their novitiate year with prayer, humility, fraternity, and a deep commitment to the Salesian charism of St. John Bosco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Olphindro Paul Lyngkot, SDB, Novice Master, requested the prayers of the faithful for the newly initiated novices. \u201cKindly pray for them,\u201d<\/em> he appealed, reminding everyone that the novitiate is an important period of spiritual growth and discernment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also assured the faithful of the prayers of the novitiate community, saying, \u201cWe too are praying for you.\u201d<\/em> He emphasized the spiritual bond between the Salesian community and the people they serve through mutual prayer and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration was attended by Salesian priests, religious, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to pray for the perseverance and vocation journey of the new novices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
