School, Garobadha Organizes Awareness Rally on World No Tobacco Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">St. Dominic Savio Secondary School, Garobadha organized a meaningful awareness rally on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day under the theme, <em>\u201cTobacco is Business of Death\u201d on 18 May 2026.<\/em> The programme was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness among students, parents, and the local community about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and the dangers posed by the tobacco industry.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The awareness rally aimed to encourage people, especially the youth, to stay away from tobacco products and to promote a healthy, disciplined, and tobacco-free society. The programme also supported the broader mission of building a Tobacco-Free Meghalaya by motivating students to become ambassadors of health, social responsibility, and moral awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme began with a short prayer service followed by an introductory message by the school authorities, highlighting the importance of protecting young people from the harmful effects of tobacco addiction. Students, teachers, and staff members actively participated in the rally carrying banners, placards, and posters displaying anti-tobacco messages and slogans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants marched through the main roads of Garobadha town raising awareness slogans such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cSay No to Tobacco, Choose Life\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cProtect Health, Protect Life\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cHealthy Minds Need Clean Lungs\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cBreak the Habit, Build the Future\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cStrong Nation, Tobacco-Free Generation\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The rally attracted the attention of the local public and effectively conveyed the message that tobacco not only destroys health but also negatively affects families, society, and future generations. During the programme, students emphasized that tobacco industries earn profits at the cost of human lives, while millions of people across the world die every year due to tobacco-related diseases and addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants appealed to the public to avoid smoking and chewing tobacco, protect children from exposure to tobacco smoke, support government initiatives against tobacco use, and work together in creating healthy homes and communities free from addiction and harmful substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awareness programme witnessed the active participation of nearly 750 students along with teachers, school administrators, and members of the local community. The enthusiasm, discipline, and commitment shown by the students reflected their strong desire to promote healthy living and social awareness among the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Police Personnel of Garobadha Out Post for their valuable support and excellent traffic arrangements throughout the rally route from the school campus to Garobadha Market. Their cooperation greatly contributed to the smooth and safe conduct of the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World No Tobacco Day Awareness Rally organized by St. Dominic Savio Secondary School, Garobadha proved to be a meaningful and successful initiative that spread an important social message throughout the locality.
