The church at Rengthama No. 8 Village under Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon Parish was solemnly blessed by Rt. Rev. Paul Mattekatt, DD on 17 May 2026. The celebration was attended by Fr. Abraham Kanattu, Rector and Parish Priest of Sojong, Fr. Albert Thyrniang, parish priest of Satgaon, other priests, religious sisters, and a large gathering of parishioners and faithful from the village.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

During the solemn Eucharistic celebration and the cultural programme that followed, the Bishop expressed his joy at blessing the church dedicated to Saint Joseph. He commended the priests working in the parish and the faithful, especially the villagers, for their perseverance in completing the church after nearly ten years of dedicated effort. \u201cThis is a testimony to the people\u2019s perseverance and unwavering faith in Divine Providence,\u201d the prelate remarked in appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the Feast of the Ascension and the readings of the day, the Bishop reminded the congregation that the Ascension of Jesus points believers toward the hope of eternal life and the promise that our true home is in the presence of the Creator. He further encouraged the faithful to remain committed to Christ\u2019s parting command to proclaim the Good News to the whole world and prayed that the Holy Spirit would continue to strengthen and deepen their faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, Fr. Albert informed the gathering that the village is home to 430 Catholics belonging to 73 households. Recalling his first visit to the church in 2021, he noted that the structure had then been \u201ca mere skeleton,\u201d but through the united efforts and sacrifices of the people it has now become \u201ca beautiful and magnificent house of God.\u201d He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed generously towards the completion of the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joy and gratitude of the villagers were beautifully expressed through vibrant dances, songs, and traditional music presented during the cultural programme after the Eucharistic celebration. Guests were warmly honoured with Anthodium plants and traditional Garo mufflers as tokens of welcome and appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Bishop received a traditional welcome from the Wangala troupe, which ceremonially escorted him from the entrance gate to the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire programme was conducted in an orderly and professional manner. The Salesians and the sisters of Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians actively facilitated the participation of children, youth, women, and men from the village. Fr. Daniel, Assistant pastor, assisted the village leaders in executing the detailed arrangements for the celebration. The occasion truly became a day of grace, thanksgiving, and memorable joy for the entire community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
