The Salesian community of Don Bosco School, Panbazar witnessed a prayerful and significant occasion on the evening of Sunday, 10 May 2026, with the installation of Rev. Fr Alex Kattakayam SDB as the new Rector of the community. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in the life and mission of the institution as Fr Alex formally assumed the responsibility of leading the Salesian community at Panbazar.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The installation ceremony was attended by the confreres of the community along with members from the Provincial House, who gathered in a spirit of fraternity and prayer to accompany Fr Alex as he undertakes his new mission of leadership and service in the Salesian Congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rev. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province, presided over the ceremony and administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Rector. In his address, Fr Provincial reflected on the significance of the office of the Rector in the Salesian tradition. He reminded Fr Alex of the important role entrusted to him by the Province and the Congregation, to animate the community in the spirit of Don Bosco, foster unity among the confreres, and guide the institution with pastoral zeal, wisdom, and fatherly care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr Sebastian also emphasized the confidence and trust placed in Fr Alex by the Province, encouraging him to lead the community with humility, prayerfulness, and dedication to the Salesian mission for the young. He highlighted that the role of a Rector is not merely administrative, but deeply spiritual and pastoral, calling the Rector to be a sign and bearer of God\u2019s love among the confreres and the young entrusted to their care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the solemn rite of installation, the assembly entrusted the new Rector to the loving care and guidance of the Blessed Mother, seeking her maternal protection and intercession upon his ministry. In a spirit of faith and commitment, Fr Alex Kattakayam recited the Creed and solemnly took the oath, promising to faithfully abide by the Constitutions of the Salesian Congregation and to carry out his duties and responsibilities with sincerity and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony concluded on a joyful and fraternal note as the confreres from the Provincial House and members of the community came together to congratulate the newly installed Rector. The gathering reflected the Salesian spirit of communion, fraternity, and shared mission as the community prayed for God\u2019s abundant blessings upon Fr Alex Kattakayam in his new responsibility at Don Bosco School, Panbazar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
