A one-day seminar on the theme \u201cEducating Like Don Bosco\u201d<\/em> was conducted at Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road on 09 May 2026 for the teachers of Don Bosco institutions of the BTAD Region. The seminar brought together around eighty-five teachers from various Don Bosco institutions to reflect on the Salesian approach to education and the importance of safeguarding in educational institutions.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The resource person for the programme was Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial, who animated the sessions with insights into the Preventive System of Education practised by St. John Bosco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teachers from Don Bosco School, Barpeta; Don Bosco College, Chapaguri; Don Bosco School, Kokrajhar; Don Bosco School, Ramfalbil; Don Bosco School, Bengtol; Don Bosco School, Patgaon; and St. Francis Xavier School, Dotma participated actively in the seminar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inaugural function was attended by Rev. Fr. Jonas Toppo, Rector of St. Joseph\u2019s Church, Barpeta Road; Rev. Fr. MC George, Principal of Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road; Rev. Fr. Abhilash Vadakkekara, Principal of Don Bosco College, Chapaguri; Fr. Seberince Islary, Principal of Don Bosco School, Ramfalbil; Bro. Paul Makri, Vice Principal of Don Bosco School, Kokrajhar; and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his welcome address, Rev. Fr. MC George highlighted the relevance of Don Bosco\u2019s educational method in today\u2019s school environment. He stressed that learning the Don Bosco way of teaching helps educators grow closer to students and create a classroom atmosphere guided by kindness and understanding. He also appreciated the principals for encouraging their staff to participate in the meaningful seminar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his sessions, Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim focused on the Preventive System of Education, emphasising that Don Bosco\u2019s educational philosophy continues to remain relevant and effective even in the present age. He encouraged the participants to practise reason, religion, and loving-kindness in their interaction with students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interactive group discussions were also organised during the seminar, where teachers reflected on practical ways of living out the Salesian spirit through \u201cpresence\u201d and \u201caccompaniment\u201d of students both inside and outside the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon session was dedicated to the important topic of \u201cSafeguarding.\u201d Fr. Bivan Mukhim explained the concept, significance, and necessity of safeguarding practices for all those working in Don Bosco educational institutions. The session helped participants understand their responsibilities in ensuring safe and nurturing environments for children and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Fr. Abhilash Vadakkekara, Principal of Don Bosco College, Chapaguri. He expressed gratitude to the resource person for the enriching sessions and thanked Fr. MC George and the Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road community for hosting and arranging the day-long programme successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
