The Don Bosco Socio Technical Institute (DBSTI), Tezpur, hosted the Bishops of the Northeast on the evening of 04 March 2026 as they gathered in Tezpur Diocese for the NorthEast Bishops\u2019 Conference held at the Bishop\u2019s House, Tezpur. The visiting bishops were warmly welcomed by the students of DBSTI with lively cultural performances that reflected the vibrant spirit of the institute.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Rev. Fr. Paul Rabha, Director of DBSTI, welcomed the bishops and expressed his joy at having the shepherds of the Church in the Northeast in their midst. He said that it was a great honour and privilege for the institute to host them and thanked the bishops for the constant support and encouragement they extend to the mission and activities of DBSTI in empowering young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of the bishops, Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, expressed his gratitude to the Bishop of Tezpur, the Archbishops, Bishops, and the leadership and staff of the institute for their warm welcome and hospitality. He congratulated the institute for the beautiful cultural presentations by the students and appreciated their talents in singing and dancing. Recalling his presence at the inauguration of the institute eleven years ago, the Archbishop noted that the Salesians have successfully realized their dream of empowering youth by helping them acquire skills, confidence, and opportunities to build a better future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Archbishop explained that the Catholic bishops gathered there represent the seven states of Northeast India and are responsible not only for the Catholic faithful but also for serving all people in their dioceses. Through schools, hostels, and educational institutions, the Church seeks to uplift society. Quoting the message of Jesus Christ, he said that love for God is expressed through love for others. Therefore, the Church strives to help young people\u2014regardless of their religion\u2014so that they may achieve their dreams and stand on their own feet in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encouraging the students, Archbishop Moolachira said that their decision to study at DBSTI would transform their lives and urged them to share their experiences with others so that more young people could benefit from the opportunities provided by the institute. He concluded by thanking the leadership of DBSTI, especially Fr. V. M. Thomas, Fr. Paul Rabha, Fr Albert T Sangma and their team, for their commitment to empowering youth and building a better society, invoking God\u2019s blessings upon the students and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
