    Rev Fr Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Vice Provincial and Rev Fr John Mathiash M. Marak, Vocation Promoter of the Province attended the Annual Meet of Salesian Vocational Guidance Coordinators and Vocation Promoters of the South Asia Region which concluded on October 8 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Mumbai, after three days of reflection, dialogue, and planning to renew the Salesian commitment to fostering vocations among the young. The gathering, held from October 6 to 8, brought together twenty delegates from across South Asia, united in their mission to strengthen collaboration and build a dynamic culture of vocation.<\/h3>\n

    The meeting was graced by the presence of\u00a0Fr Clive Telles, Provincial In-charge for the Vocation Dimension, and\u00a0Fr Gabriel Karunaraj, South Asia Regional Coordinator for Vocation Animation.<\/p>\n

    In his keynote address,\u00a0Fr Clive Telles\u00a0drew inspiration from\u00a0General Chapter 29<\/em>, urging participants to \u201crebuild a culture of accompaniment \u2014 personal, spiritual, and pastoral.\u201d He emphasized the need for deeper integration between formation and mission, creative promotion of Salesian vocations, and the empowerment of vocation promoters as \u201canimators of vocational ecosystems.\u201d Fr. Telles also stressed collaboration between the Youth Ministry and Formation as essential to sustaining a vibrant vocational climate.<\/p>\n

    Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, Vocation Guidance Coordinator of the Bombay Province, offered a comprehensive understanding of the youth phenomenon in both urban and rural contexts. He presented a practical\u00a0Five-Step Accompaniment Model<\/em>\u00a0for discernment and formation, encouraging contextual approaches to vocational guidance.<\/p>\n

    Br. James Marcus, South Asia Delegate for the Salesian Brothers, highlighted the importance of authentic witness, professional competence, and direct engagement with the young in promoting vocations to the Salesian Brotherhood.<\/p>\n

    In a thought-provoking reflection,\u00a0Fr. Rupen Diravya\u00a0of the Trichy Province reminded the assembly that the heart of the Salesian charism lies in being both educators and evangelizers. He outlined seven\u00a0kerygmatic truths<\/em>\u00a0that guide vocational accompaniment \u2014 from revealing God\u2019s love to forming joyful missionary disciples who embody Don Bosco\u2019s dream today.<\/p>\n

    The second day featured an in-depth evaluation of the region\u2019s vocation ministry, led by\u00a0Fr. Banzelao Teixeira, Coordinator of the South Asia Formation Commission. He praised the structured approach and family involvement within the ministry while noting challenges related to promoter training and youth engagement. He urged greater focus on digital outreach, family catechesis, and stronger collaboration with Youth Ministry.<\/p>\n

    Delegates from various provinces also presented their annual reports, sharing initiatives, progress, and best practices in fostering vocations across diverse contexts.<\/p>\n

    On the concluding day,\u00a0Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj\u00a0offered an enlightening session on the roles and responsibilities within the Vocational Accompaniment Team, underscoring the importance of synergy among Youth Ministry Delegates, Vocation Guidance Coordinators, and Promoters. He also presented the newly developed\u00a0Handbook for Salesian Vocation Promoters<\/em>, designed to serve as a resource for consistent and inspired vocational animation across the region.<\/p>\n
