Rev Fr Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial inaugurating the new school building at Don Bosco School, Satgaon.
On December 6, 2025, under Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon Parish, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial, blessed and inaugurated the newly constructed block of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School. The occasion also coincided with the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sr. Mary Hasdak, MSMHC, the Headmistress and Superior of the community.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fr. Provincial expressed his happiness at being part of the twin celebrations, the inauguration of the school building and the Jubilee of Sr. Hasdak. He noted with satisfaction that the construction project, which began on July 11, 2025, had been completed successfully within a short span. He commended the school authorities for their dedicated supervision and expressed hope that the new structure would not only signify progress but also become a true temple of learning. He further invited everyone to embrace a change of mindset to enable faster development.
Fr. Provincial also congratulated Sr. Mary Hasdak on completing 25 years of religious life, thanking her for her selfless and dedicated service to the institution and the young.
The blessing programme was held in the school assembly area, followed by a colourful cultural showcase in the school auditorium. Students presented a variety of traditional dances: Karbi, Garo, Tiwa, Dimasa and Assamese as well as modern fusion performances. A short biography of the Jubilarian was also displayed through a PowerPoint presentation.
Among the dignitaries present were Fr. C.A. John, the initiator of the new school wing; Fr. Abraham Kanattu, Rector and Parish Priest of Sojong; Fr. Joseph Teron, Principal of Don Bosco School, Baithalangso; Fr. Albert Thyrniang, Principal and Parish Priest; along with other priests, sisters, parents’ representatives and parish leaders.
The programme concluded with a Jubilee cake-cutting ceremony, during which Sr. Hasdak expressed her gratitude for the performances, prayers, and presence of all gathered.
