Rev Fr Markus Lakra SDB, Parish Priest along with the Catechists of Shallang Parish.
The catechists and church leaders of Sacred Heart Parish, Shallang, undertook a meaningful pilgrimage and sightseeing trip to the city of Guwahati on Saturday 06 December 2025 under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Markus Lakra, SDB, Rector and Parish Priest, and accompanied by Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Kujur, SDB.
The day’s programme began with a prayerful and serene visit to St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, Panbazar, where the group spent time in reflection and conducted a short prayer service. This spiritual start set the tone for the rest of the day, strengthening the participants in faith and fellowship.
Following the prayer service, the group proceeded to Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, where they were given an opportunity to witness the campus and learn about its mission and activities. The catechists later visited several important landmarks across Guwahati, making the trip both enriching and memorable.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Markus Lakra, SDB, emphasized the significance of such gatherings, especially as the Christmas season approaches. “It is an opportunity for the catechists to come together and pray, to learn, and to relax before the beginning of the Christmas Season,” he said, highlighting the need for spiritual renewal and communal bonding.
