The Feast Day of St. John Bosco was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Don Bosco College, Chapaguri, on 31 January 2025. The celebration brought together students, staff, and the Salesian community in a spirit of gratitude and joy, paying homage to the great saint and educator of the young.
The programme commenced with the opening hymn, Bless the Lord oh My Soul, sung by the students and staff, creating a prayerful atmosphere. This was followed by a short but meaningful prayer service led by the students, invoking divine blessings and reflecting on the life and mission of St. John Bosco. Fr Abhilash VJ, the Principal welcomed everyone for the homage to Don Bosco.
The lighting of the lamp marked the symbolic beginning of the event, signifying the presence of divine wisdom and enlightenment. The principal, along with the fathers, sisters, teachers, and students, then paid a floral tribute to St. John Bosco, expressing their deep respect and admiration for his enduring legacy in the field of education and youth empowerment.
Miss Jelly extended festal greetings on behalf of the college community, highlighting the significance of the occasion and the relevance of St. John Bosco’s teachings in today’s world. Her words resonated with everyone present, fostering a deeper appreciation for the saint’s vision and the contributions of the Salesians, especially those working in the College.
The students then presented a melodious Feast Day song, filling the hall with a sense of joy and celebration. The highlight of the event was the inspiring message delivered by Fr. VM Thomas, former provincial of the Province of Guwahati. He emphasized the importance of St. John Bosco’s educational philosophy and encouraged the students to embody his values of love, kindness, and dedication to learning.
The celebration concluded with the closing hymn, We Thank You O Lord for Don Bosco, a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the saint’s intercession and guidance in the lives of all present.
