RENEWAL OF VOWS AT DON BOSCO COLLEGE H S SECTION, TURA
Tura, 23 February 2020: Eleven clerics from Tura region renewed their vows on the evening of 23rd May 2020 at Don Bosco College Higher Secondary Section. Rev Fr. Joseph Teron, Vice Provincial received their vows in the presence of Salesians from around Tura town. Most of the clerics who renewed their vows were students at Don Bosco College of Teacher Education and Don Bosco College Tura and a few doing their practical training.
Rev Fr. Francis Cherambeen, Director of Don Bosco College Higher Secondary Section community presented the candidates to Vice Provincial who welcomed them as members of the Salesians Society committed by temporary vows.
In his homily the Vice Provincial reminded the clerics that taking a vow of obedience, poverty and chastity means that we are following Christ who is obedient, poor and chaste. He reminded that down through centuries God called patriarchs, prophets, apostles and they followed him with total fidelity. He added that “God who called the prophets and gave them strength will also give strength to you as you moved forward in yourreligious life.” He added that a call to consecrated life is a challenge, challenging the tide of belonging to the world but not of the world.
He concluded by exhorting the clerics that even though the vow they have taken is a temporary vow, but it extended much more towards perpetual vows to be with Don Bosco and to fulfill his mission of accompanying the poor and abandoned youth.
The clerics who renewed their vows were presented with Assamese gamocha each.
On 24th May 2020, five clerics made their Perpetual Profession at Bosco Mount Rongkhon.
