History
The need had been felt for a long time for a centre that would prove to be a boost in the evangelization work not only of the province and archdiocese but of the whole North Eastern Region. On 31 January 1975, the property known as Red Gables was bought by the Salesian Province from the India Tea Association.
Fr. John Larrea came to live at the pastoral centre on October 17, 1978 and the construction of the centre continued in right earnest. Fr. Joseph Cilia came to the centre from Christ King College early in 1979. By April 1981, the construction was completed and the blessing ceremony took place prior to the meeting of Salesian Provincials of India, April 27 – 28, 1981. The centre produces and distributes pastorally and catechetically oriented material. Attached to the centre is the retreat house which serves the religious and laity for programmes of spiritual renewal, animation and formation.
