The ``Kalvi Valarchi Naal``(Education Development day) was celebrated at Don Bosco, St.Antony`s High School, Melanmarainadu, on 15th July 2010 as a remembrance of the birth anniversary of Karmaveerar Kamarajar. The chief guest of the function was Mr.Thirupathi, the counsellor of Vembakottai, Virudunagar District. Special events and cultural programmes such as drama, songs and dances were performed by the students. Music, dance, speech and drawing competitions were conducted focusing on the theme of the day.

Fr. Sahayaraj Arulkannu, Rector/Head Master was the special guest of the function. The chief guest Mr.Thirupathi spoke about the importance and benefits of education. He appreciated the students who scored top ranks in the examinations. He also praised the parents of the students for encouraging their children towards education. In his speech he highlighted the life of Karmaveerar Kamarajar and his efforts in eradicating illiteracy in Tamil Nadu. Finally prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions. Totally 428 students along with 9 teachers and 2 office staff participated in the function.
