NEISFCA General Body Meet 2010

Guwahati, Jul. 29. The North-east India Salesian Family Catechetical Association (NEISFCA) which was formed in 2006 under the guidance of Fr. Barnes Mawrie, met for the annual General Body Meet at Pastoral Centre from 26th to 27th July.

There were 10 participants, 2 SDBs, 1 FMA, 5 MSMHCs and 2 VSDBs. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, the other members could not be present. The meeting started at 10 am with a hymn and prayer followed by the presentation of the general report. This was followed by the election of office bearers. In the secret ballot that followed, Fr. Barnes was re-elected the president, Sr. Lydia Komuhra FMA, the Secretary, Sr. Melita Syiem MSMHC, Jt. secretary, five vice presidents one for each region of NE India. Sr. Valentina Umdor MSMHC was elected Treasurer.

The meeting then proceeded to the next phase and that is the Project Green Catechism. Fr. Barnes explained about the project and gave the guidelines for the work. The schema was then discussed in groups and was finally approved. On 26th evening and 27th whole day, the members were in SHTC Library to prepare the lessons. Each group is assigned a chapter each and they will complete the work by end of August. These lessons will be compiled into a first draft of the text. The groups will then meet together and study the draft. The final draft will be prepared by the editorial team after getting the feedback from the rest. The text is expected to be published in 2011. This will be the first ever catechism book on environmental topics. The book is expected to be of great service to students in schools and colleges and to others at large.
