Fr Benny Mosahary SDB`s uncle Anthony and aunt Lucy died tragically in an accident on 14 May 2008.
Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong is organizing a State Level Conference of Industries and Training Institutes on 25th to 26th April, in collaboration with SKIP, Bangalore. The thrust of the conference is to find ways and means to bridge the mismatch between the expectation of Industries and competence of job seekers.
The young and vibrant Catholic community in Khasi Hills, Northeast India, offered yet another of its sons to the Salesian missions in East Africa. Fr. Celestine Kharkongor sdb was ordained a priest by Archbishop Dominic Jala SDB,DD, April 20 at the parish of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish at Mawjrong-Laitkhroh in Meghalaya. Celestine is the second Salesian from the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya after Fr. Augustine Kharmuti who was ordained in Shillong on April 13, to be ordained this year for the East African Salesian Province.
On April 13, 2008, His Grace, Rt Rev. Dominic Jala SDB DD, ordained Deacon Augustine Kharmuti SDB, a priest, in a glittering function amidst showers of blessings in front a sea of people gathered from all over the diocese of Shillong.
AGARTALA, 6 April, 2008: Thanks to the Diocesan Convention of the Laity held at Moharpara parish in Tripura, the erstwhile Princely State was able to play host to a `Prince of the Church`, for the first time on its soil. Lumen Monteiro CSC, DD the Bishop of Agartala diocese who received Telesphor Cardinal Toppo to his diocese described the visit of the prelate as one of `immense significance and joy` for the Church in Tripura.
AGARTALA, 6 April, 2008: Telesphor Cardinal Toppo exhorted the priests and religious of the diocese of Agartala to ``spend at least half hour every day reading and meditating the Word of God.`` He was speaking to a group of priests and religious that had gathered at the Bishop`s House on Saturday, 5th April to the listen to the Cardinal who was on his maiden visit to the state in connection with the Laity Convention taking place at Moharpara.
AGARTALA, 6 April, 2008: Telesphor Cardinal Toppo who came to Tripura as the special invitee of the Diocesan Laity Convention has called the event a `blessing, God`s Will for you and for the diocese.`
Mr. David Malone, High Commissioner of Canada to India, visited the Don Bosco Museum, Mawlai, Shillong on 21 March. He was deeply impressed by what he saw.
